Yes and no. You don’t need to do a deep clean before the cleaning service arrives—that’s our job! However, a little preparation can help us work more efficiently and ensure you get the best results. Here’s what you should do before your cleaning crew arrives:
What You Should Do Before a Cleaning Service Arrives:
-
Declutter Surfaces & Floors
- Pick up clothes, toys, dishes, or other personal items.
- This allows the cleaners to focus on deep cleaning rather than tidying up.
-
Put Away Valuables & Important Documents
- Store jewelry, cash, and sensitive documents in a safe place.
- This prevents accidental misplacement. We clean between 2 to 4 houses every day and it’s difficult for us to remember where we could have seen an item.
-
Communicate Your Expectations
- Make a list of priority areas or specific tasks you want us to focus on.
- If you have special instructions (e.g., “no scent products” or “Don’t clean this room”), let them know.
-
Secure Pets
- If you have pets, keep them in a separate room or let the cleaners know about them in advance.
- Pets might get stressed by strangers carrying loud equipment 🙂
-
Check for Broken or Fragile Items
- If something is already damaged, take note of it so there’s no confusion later.
- Move fragile items if you’re worried about accidental breakage.
-
Provide Access
- If you won’t be home, make arrangements for entry (e.g., leaving a key, a door code, or letting a neighbor grant access).
What You Don’t Need to Do:
❌ No need to deep clean – The service is there to do the heavy cleaning.
❌ No need to scrub surfaces – They will handle that with professional products.
❌ No need to vacuum/mop – Most services include this in their cleaning routine.
By taking these small steps, you’ll help the cleaners do their job more efficiently and ensure you get the best results from your service.
